Bricks & Wood has revealed its third New Balance collaboration, and it already looks to be the biggest yet.

The Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U takes inspiration from the Madagascan Sunset Moth. Dani Barraza, the chief operating officer and a designer for the Los Angeles streetwear label, shared an image of the colorful insect Monday in an Instagram carousel unveiling the sneaker.

Beginning with a black base, the mesh and leather sneaker features a number of blazing gradients including teal, olive, blood red, neon pink and yellow. The “U” in 1906U stands for “utility,” and if you look closely you’ll notice a more complex layout of panels when compared to the more ubiquitous 1906R. Bricks & Wood also rope laces with a toggle for quick adjustments, and its name appears in pink across the olive grey overlay beneath the lateral collar.

The lineup of 1906s, which also includes the 1906D and 1906F, has become a headliner for New Balance and stand out because of the “N” logo’s incorporation of the lacing system. Concepts and The Whitaker Group have both taken on the 1906U this summer after the “utility” variants’s debut late last year.

Originally known as the 1906 upon its debut in 2009, the model’s second run as the 1906R has included since 2022 collaborations with heavy hitters Salehe Bembury, Kith, Aimé Leon Dore and Action Bronson.

Bricks & Wood, which is proudly based in South Central Los Angeles, began collaborating with New Balance in 2022 on the 57/40. They then turned to the 9060 for their second collaboration last year.

Release information on the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U has yet to be confirmed, but the sneaker should release before the end of 2024. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
