Canadian bootmaker Viberg collaborates with menswear writer David Coggins on a second style
Canadian bootmaker Viberg has teamed up with menswear writer David Coggins for the second time on a collaborative shoe.
This time, the duo unveiled The Outsider II boot. Designed and developed by Coggins and Viberg, The Outsider II continues the writer’s vision for a boot that blends practical outdoor toughness with urban sophistication.
According to Viberg, The Outsider II boot is made from tobacco-colored full-grain calfskin suede and crafted on the company’s 2040 Chelsea last. The result is a boot that has a tighter fit at the waist and heel, and a roomier front than its predecessor. The boot also features a custom back pull tab and sock lining, and a sturdy Lactae Havea “Boss” sole.
Additionally, each pair of boots is meticulously handcrafted using traditional Goodyear welt construction with a grooved insole, a method that uses the same principles as hand-welted shoes. The grooved leather insole allows the foot to sit directly on it, and the heel and entire shoe are attached to the insole. This approach allows your foot to flex, mold, and conform to the leather insole.
The Outsider II boot retails for $1,000 and is available now on Viberg.com. Pre-order boots are expected to ship on December 16, according to the brand's website, as the Canadian-made styles can take up to 10 weeks to produce and deliver.
This latest release follows the release of the duo's first project, The Outsider I, which is also available for pre-order on the footwear brand's website. The shoe, which also retails for $1,000, is also made on Viberg's 2040 Chelsea boot last, but is crafted in Horween tobacco suede. The flat-toe style also features a custom back pull tab and insole, as well as a distressed finish.
