Skechers Expands Soccer Presence, Signs Oleksandr Zinchenko
Skechers is pushing further into the soccer category, and adding another top player to its growing roster of athletes.
The company on Tuesday announced that it has signed Premier League Arsenal and Ukrainian National Team defender Oleksandr Zinchenko to its roster of European soccer professionals. The news follows Skechers’ long-term signing of Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane in August which made him the center of Skechers’ first European football boots, SKX_01.
Zinchenko will become one of the first players to wear the Skechers Razor boot from the new “Diamond Ice Pack” white colorway, which launched over the weekend. He will also appear in Skechers’ marketing campaigns as an ambassador for the sport.
“Skechers may be relatively new to football, but they’re doing everything right, and I really appreciate how much their team focuses on working with athletes to create the perfect boot,” Zinchenko said in a statement. “The ‘Razor’ feels wonderful on the pitch and gives me the performance I need to excel—it really is the best boot I’ve ever worn. Proud to be working with Skechers and look forward to helping grow this brand in our sport.”
Zinchenko is currently in his second season with Premier League club Arsenal, which he signed with in 2022. He previously played with Russian football club Ufa and Premier League club Manchester City, where he won four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and an FA Cup as a left-back on the team. He also plays as a defender on the Ukrainian National Team.
Skechers’ soccer collection, which launched over the summer, includes three boot styles in several colorways for men and women. The Razor is a lightweight boot with a carbon-infused soleplate that emphasizes agility. The SKX_01 is made for striking and features a custom last designed for comfort and performance. Skechers launched some soccer products a few years ago, though the launch with Harry Kane represented its first-ever boot made for professional players.
“Since launching Skechers Football in August, the reception has been incredible as the world has watched Harry Kane have amazing success, scoring more goals this season than any top league player in Europe—in Skechers boots,” said Skechers Performance VP of product development and merchandising Greg Smith in a statement. “As an elite defender in the Premier League, Zinchenko will be the perfect addition to our roster—a complement to the best striker in the game. Our team illustrates how Skechers Football offers a range of boots that deliver innovation, performance and our signature comfort for every type of player, in every position, across the pitch.”
Skechers’ soccer collection can be found on the company’s websites and in certain Skechers and specialty retail stores across the UK, Europe and the U.S.
