Skechers Sells Out of Limited-Edition Gold Boot Honoring Harry Kane’s 36 Goals
Skechers has launched a gold edition of the SKX_01 boots to celebrate English footballer Harry Kane's 36th Bundesliga goal. The new limited edition colourway is inspired by Kane's first European Golden Shoe, a seasonal award that honours the top scorer in Europe's top leagues.
Skechers has only made 36 of the gold boots, each individually numbered to represent Kane's goals for Bayern Munich, and the commemorative boots sold out within days of their launch on August 28. Kane received his pair in a custom gold box.
Kane will wear the special boots today (September 10) against Finland, which will mark his 100th international cap (referring to the number of international matches he has played for his country). Kane is the tenth England player to reach this milestone, and the FA plans to hold a pre-match ceremony, including presenting the striker with a golden cap.
Skechers has only recently ventured into the world of professional soccer shoes, signing Kane to a global lifetime contract last year. The SKX_01 hit the market about a year ago in September.
The brand describes the design of the shoe and what makes it different: "At the heart of the shoe is an internal frame made of lightweight yet strong material that not only improves support and stability, but also makes the shoe incredibly light and provides unmatched resistance and responsiveness."
The description continues: "The dynamic stud pattern also provides enhanced grip for multi-directional movements. A staple of Skechers' high-performance footwear, the SKX_01 also features Skechers Hyperburst Pro technology, which features highly responsive, ultra-lightweight, durable and resilient TPU cushioning that adapts to the shape of the foot to provide a personalized fit. ”
The shoe is available in low-top and high-top versions, with the latter offering extra ankle support. Available in two colors, the low version retails for $90 and the high version for $225.
Other soccer stars who have signed with Skechers include Mohammed Kudus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Anthony Elanga and Ruud Gullit, who was recently announced as a new ambassador.
