The Newest Hello Kitty x Adidas Collaboration Is Almost Here

Hello Kitty is an adorable fictional character created by designer Yuko Shimizu in 1974 for Japanese entertainment company Sanrio. This year, Hello Kitty is celebrating her 50th birthday with special collaborations throughout the year. To celebrate the anniversary, Hello Kitty has already launched projects with Adidas, Crocs, and Forever 21, but the celebrations aren’t over yet.

New images of the official Hello Kitty x Adidas Gazelle Indoor collaboration are making the rounds online. This latest collaboration is more low-key than the duo’s previous collaboration on the Sambae sneaker, with color as the main promotional tool, but there are also many whimsical details that are sure to please Hello Kitty fans.

The Hello Kitty x Adidas Gazelle Indoor is unique in that it features a repeating bow pattern printed on the leather upper. A black Hello Kitty face is printed on the heel, and a red bow pattern is also embroidered on the black leather heel pull tab.

Over its fifty-year history, Hello Kitty has been licensed for dozens of footwear collaborations. In 2004, the brand celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special Nike Air Presto project, which ultimately made its way to friends and family only. The Hello Kitty x Air Presto collaboration was eventually released to the public in a blue colorway in 2022.

This year alone, Hello Kitty x Adidas collaborations have included the aforementioned Sambae sneaker and Adilette slide. The Japanese franchise has also appeared on numerous co-branded Crocs models.

Whether readers were disappointed by the 50th anniversary Hello Kitty collaboration before this year, or fans just want to add a new look to their collections, the Hello Kitty x Adidas Gazelle Indoor will soon be released. The shoe is scheduled to release exclusively in women's sizing on October 1st and will retail for $125. It will be available on adidas.com and at select retailers.
