Vans Skateboarding Releases Three New Colorways for AVE 2.0 Sneakers
Vans Skateboarding has announced three new colorways and an updated design for the AVE 2.0, promoted by the brand as its “most advanced skate shoe ever.”
Named for renowned professional skateboarder Anthony Van Engelen — known as AVE — the sneaker brand and the athlete first collaborated five years ago. The AVE 2.0 was released in March of 2024 and featured a knit upper. The forthcoming iteration of the sneaker includes breathable mesh in place of the knit material. Additionally, the AVE 2.0 is now offered in new colorways known as medium grey and lavender fog/black. The brand also is releasing an AVE bench green color which will be available exclusively in select skate shops.
According to a press release from Vans, the shoes’, “upper’s new base fabrication features the aforementioned mesh, bonded to RapidWeld™ suede and synthetic TPU. Softer heel counters plus added foam around the tongue and collar offers increased comfort, while the advanced UltraCush™ midsole with a TPU support shank and outsole that combines an UltimateWaffle™ traction pattern with grippy SickStick™ rubber.”
Additional members of the Vans Skateboarding team are featured in the AVE 2.0 campaign, including Willow Voges Fernandez, Tyson Peterson, Nelly Morville, and Diego Todd.
The second batch of shoes will be available beginning June 13 and can be purchased online through vans.com/skate and in select skate shops.
Vans will celebrate the release with activations in Paris taking place from June 18 to June 22. The daily events to celebrate will involve skate jams, exhibitions and a surprise brand experience by OTW by Vans.
In other Vans-related news, the brand is partnering with Supreme to deliver a choice message on the side of the Sid sneaker: “F–k Em!” The shoes are offered in blue, red and black. Vans is also teaming up with Proenza Schouler to release a puffy slip-on sneaker.
